1. M: Can you go camping with us, Julia?

  W: I’m afraid not. I have some housework to do. 

2. M: Can I have a look at your newspaper? I’d like to find out what the weather will         

     be like tomorrow.

  W: Of course, here you are.

3. M: Hello, Anna. This is Mike in the office. Is Jack in?

  W: No, he’s buying something for his girlfriend now. He’ll be home in an hour.

  M: OK, thank you.

4. M: I’d like some chicken. Is it on sale?

  W: Yes. It is on sale at $1.5 a pound. How much would you like?

5. M: Hurry up! It’s seven o’clock now.

  W: Take it easy. We have half an hour to get to the meeting.

6. M: Did you say sorry to your teacher, Mary?

  W: Why must I?

  M: You were late this morning.

  W: But I wasn’t. When I got to school, I was just on time for class.

7. M: I want to go to the concert tonight, but it starts at 7 and I have to work until 5.   

    There won’t be enough time to go home for dinner.

  W: I’ve got an idea. I’ll pick you up after work and we’ll eat downtown. That’ll  

give us plenty of time to get to the concert.

8. M: Would you like to come to my birthday party, Cindy?

  W: Thanks for your invitation, Carl. I can’t wait to have it.
